15 Mistakes that are killing your Performance
10 Mistakes Killing Your PC's Performance
Not using a local Windows account
Solution: Switch to a local Windows account in Settings > Accounts > Your Info.
Note: Using a Microsoft account shares more data, has more bloatware, and runs constant syncing services. A local account shares less data and allows you to skip a password on boot.
Not optimizing your PC properly or over tweaking your PC
Solution: Stick to one reliable tool or guide (like the free utility or premium utility mentioned by the channel).
Note: Using tens or hundreds of different guides/tools can lead to a terrible result and system instability.
Not capping your FPS properly
Solution (Nvidia): Use Max Frame Rate in the Nvidia Control Panel (3D settings) instead of the in-game cap. Set it to your refresh rate (e.g., 240 FPS).
Solution (AMD): Use the Radon Chill feature and set both the minimum and maximum FPS cap to the same value (your refresh rate).
In-Game Settings: Set the game's frame limit to Unlimited and disable Nvidia Reflex Low Latency.
FSO: Ensure Full Screen Optimizations (FSO) are enabled by running the provided "enable FSO file."
Note: This method significantly improves your 1% lows compared to just using the in-game FPS cap.
Not using a custom power plan
Solution: Download and import a custom power plan using the file provided in their Discord server.
Note: Default power plans (even Ultimate Performance) don't optimize all of the hidden settings. Custom plans are slightly better.
Not utilizing the onboard memory with your mouse and keyboard
Solution: Turn on the onboard memory mode in your peripheral's software (e.g., Logitech G HUB).
Note: Keeping the software running in the background is bad for performance. Using onboard memory mode prevents the software from constantly running.
Not updating your firmware
Solution: Check your peripheral software (mouse/keyboard) for firmware updates and install them.
Note: Firmware updates improve stability and are important to install.
Having RGB enabled on your keyboard and mouse
Solution: Disable RGB lighting.
Note: RGB causes your peripherals to constantly ping the RGB controller, which increases CPU cycles and overall system resources in the background. Most pros play with RGB disabled for this exact reason.
Not using a proper DPI
Solution: Increase your DPI to at least 800 or 1600. You must divide your in-game sensitivity accordingly.
Note: Using low mouse DPI (like 400) causes inconsistent polling rates, slightly higher latency, and pixel skipping. Switching to a higher DPI will make your mouse feel smoother.
Having outdated BIOS firmware installed on your motherboard
Solution: Update your motherboard's BIOS firmware.
Note: Recent firmware improves stability, fixes bugs, and can sometimes provide a big FPS boost.
Focusing too much on low processes (Misconception)
Solution: Debloat your PC by disabling genuinely useless processes (like Xbox and Bluetooth if not used), but avoid disabling essential services.
Note: The difference in performance between having 30 and 90 processes is almost non-existent. Trying to achieve an extremely low process count by disabling essential services can break your PC's functionality for only a marginal performance gain.
